CONTEXT

Clockwork is dedicated to empowering executive recruiters with the tools they need to excel in their roles. Our latest project focuses on enhancing the executive recruiter dashboard to address key user challenges and improve overall efficiency. By tackling issues such as information overload, misaligned data presentation, and the need for role-specific views, we aim to create a more intuitive and effective dashboard experience. Our goal is to provide recruiters with clear workflow guidance and actionable insights, enabling them to manage their projects more effectively and achieve better outcomes. Through these enhancements, Clockwork seeks to support recruiters in their daily tasks, streamline their workflows, and ultimately drive success in their executive search efforts.

RESULTS

Daily Active Users: Increased 14%

Session Duration: Increased from 5 minutes to 8 minutes.

User Feedback Surveys: Effectiveness Rating (out of 10): Increased from 5.5 to 8.0.

USER CHALLENGES

  1. Misaligned Data Presentation: The way data is presented does not match recruiters' actual needs, making it difficult for them to grasp the pipeline status and potential risks.

  2. Role-Specific Needs: Different roles within the company (recruiters vs. directors and partners) have varying needs regarding data frequency and detail.

  3. Workflow Guidance: Upon landing on the project view, users lack clear guidance on what tasks to prioritize and the overall project health, leading to inefficiencies and potential oversight.

Strategic Collaboration Shift

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference." - Robert Frost

During our research, I identified a significant issue: users frequently leave the project dashboard to access their task list and calendar, leading to a high bounce rate and disrupting their workflow. This problem is further exacerbated by the lack of prompts for candidate follow-ups, which can result in candidates slipping through the pipeline. These inefficiencies not only frustrate users but also hinder their ability to manage time effectively and maintain strong relationships with candidates.

At the same time, the growth team was working on improving engagement with the task list and calendar by optimizing their entry points. Recognizing the overlap in our goals, I reached out to the growth team to collaborate. We decided to iterate on both projects together, sharing insights and aligning our strategies. This collaboration aimed to ensure that the design process was efficient and that our solutions effectively addressed user pain points.

PRODUCT REQUIREMENTS

Enhance User Experience: Improve the dashboard interface to ensure recruiters can easily interpret data and identify key information.

  1. Increase Efficiency: Streamline recruiters' daily workflows by providing clear guidance on pending tasks and project health, reducing time spent on figuring out next steps.

  2. Tailored Data Presentation: Customize data views based on user roles to ensure relevant information is easily accessible, increasing satisfaction and usability.

  3. Risk Mitigation: Enable recruiters to quickly identify potential risks within the candidate pipeline to take timely action and maintain candidate engagement.

SOLUTIONS

AI Workflow Guidance:

  • Place daily pending tasks, calendar events, and overall project health at the top of the dashboard.

  • Offer a "Today’s Focus" section that outlines priority tasks and key updates for the day, helping recruiters quickly understand what needs their attention.

Role-Based Customization:

  • Implement role-specific data views. For example, show 7-day data by default for daily users like recruiters and 2-week data for less frequent users like directors and partners.

  • Allow users to customize their dashboard preferences based on their role and frequency of use.

Pipeline and Risk Indicators:

  • Clearly display pipeline status with visual indicators for potential risks. For instance, highlight candidates who haven't moved in the process for two weeks to alert recruiters.

  • Provide actionable insights or suggestions for stagnant candidates (e.g., follow-up reminders or status update prompts).

IMPROVEMENT

  • Display task events on a dashboard to make it easier for the user to understand more detailed information.

  • Present data in a more specific and clear manner.
